The Council agreed on 28th June 2007 under which circumstances efficient Waste-to-Energy plants can be classified as recovery operations within the Waste Framework Directive.
Referring to the case of German waste found recently in the Czech Republic CEWEP clearly criticizes any waste transports to other countries for eco-dumping.
The CEWEP congress "Where is EU Waste Policy going" attracted 100 participants from 16 countries across Europe involved in developing the role Waste-to-Energy production has to play in furthering sustainability.
